What is the Organize PDF tool?

This is a page manager for PDFs. Every page of your document appears as a thumbnail in a grid, and you move, turn, copy or discard those thumbnails until the running order is right. When you press save, a new PDF is written in exactly that order β€” which is how you reorder PDF pages online without opening a paid editor or sending the file anywhere.

Page order goes wrong constantly. A document feeder pulls a sheet out of sequence. You write the appendix before the introduction. A signed page comes back from the printer and belongs at the front, not the back. Cut-and-paste inside a viewer either is not offered or quietly re-renders your pages, so people end up printing the whole thing and re-scanning it. This tool skips that.

Everything happens in the tab you already have open. The thumbnails are drawn by pdf.js, the saved file is assembled by pdf-lib, and both run on your own machine β€” no account, no upload step, no queue. You can rearrange a confidential board pack or a patient file and nothing about it ever leaves your laptop.

How to rearrange PDF pages online

    1. Drop a PDF on the upload box β€” or several, if you want to combine and organize in one pass.
    2. Click a thumbnail to select it. Shift-click for a run of pages, ⌘ or Ctrl-click to add single pages.
    3. Drag any thumbnail to its new slot; the marker shows whether it lands left or right of the page you are hovering, and a multi-page selection travels together.
    4. Use the toolbar for bulk work: Reverse, Move to front, Move to end, the three rotate buttons, Duplicate and Remove.
    5. Check the live preview β€” page 1 there is page 1 of the saved file β€” and the counter under the grid showing how many pages the output has.
    6. Press Save PDF to download the reorganized document.

Benefits of using this PDF page organizer

    Who should use this tool?

Anyone assembling a report or portfolio

Cover, contents, sections, appendix, references β€” they rarely arrive in that order. Drop them all in, drag the cover to the front with Move to front, duplicate a divider page where you need one, and save a single document that reads front to back.

    Teachers and course leaders

Building a handout pack from last year's material usually means keeping some pages, dropping others and changing the sequence. Remove the outdated pages, use Odd or Even to rotate a batch of sideways scans, then save a pack ready to print.

    Admin and office staff

Contracts come back with the signed page at the end and the schedule missing. Add the schedule PDF so its pages join the grid, drag them to the right place, and hand over a properly sequenced file β€” with title and author metadata carried across if you leave that box ticked.

    People rescuing a double-sided scan

Scanning a stack of paper front side then back side leaves you with two files in the wrong order. Load both, tick β€œsecond file is in reverse order” if the backs came out upside-down-last, and press Interleave A/B to rebuild the original document.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I move pages in a PDF without buying software?

Load the file here and drag its thumbnails. The reordering happens in your browser and the saved copy keeps the new sequence, so no desktop editor or subscription is involved.

Can I organize pages from two different PDFs at the same time?

Yes. Drop several files at once, or use β€œAdd pages from another PDF” in Advanced options. Every page joins one grid and each thumbnail is labelled with the file it came from.

Is there a quick way to sort PDF pages into reverse order?

Press Reverse with nothing selected and the whole document flips. Select a few pages first and only those positions are reversed, which is handy for one badly scanned block.

What is the difference between this and the Extract or Delete tools?

Organize rearranges pages and hands back the whole document in a new order. Extract Pages copies the pages you choose into a fresh file, and Delete Pages returns a copy with the unwanted pages gone. Use this one when the sequence, not the contents, is the problem.

Do removed pages really disappear from the saved file?

Yes β€” a page marked with Γ— is skipped when the new PDF is built, and its content is not copied. Nothing is written back to your original file, so you can press Restore all and start again.

Will my selection of pages survive if I select by number instead?

It works the other way round too: type something like 1-4, 9 in β€œSelect pages by number” and press Select. Those numbers follow the current output order shown on the thumbnails, not the original file.

    Can I rearrange a password-protected PDF?

Not while it is encrypted β€” the page will say it could not read the file. Remove the password with Unlock PDF first, then organize the unlocked copy.

How many pages can the grid handle?

There is no hard cap, but every thumbnail is rendered on your device, so a 600-page scan takes a while to appear and is happier on a laptop than a phone. Smaller thumbnails speed up drawing.
